Won’t turn on / charge
The IT tablets (especially 10”) have a very large battery and take a long time to charge. There are a few things that you can try to try and bring the tablet to life.
- Charge the tablet - Charge the tablet for a long period of time (we recommend 6 hours).
- Wait for battery symbol - Leave the tablet on charge for half an hour and then check to see if a battery symbol appears. You can do this by simply clicking the power button.
- Turn the tablet on - Whilst the charger is in, hold the power button down for around 5 seconds to turn it on.
- Reset pin - The IT 10” has a reset pin at the top of the tablet. Put a pin in here until you feel a click. Leave the pin in for around 5 seconds. Then try charging the tablet again.
- Power button - The 7” tablets don’t have a reset pin. Try holding down the power button for around 10-15 seconds to kill all power. Then plug the charger in again and try power the tablet back up.
- Try a different charger -Try a different USB lead (Samsung, HTC, Nokia, Blackberry) to try and charge the tablet and also try a different plug. Again repeat the same method of charging as described above.
If non of the above activate your tablet back to life call our technical support line (Monday-Friday 9:30-5:30pm) as we will be able to instruct you over the phone how to master reboot which will take the tablet into recovery mode. We will navigate you how to do this. Please have your tablet with you when you call.
Having trouble connecting to WiFi? The tablet should say ‘connected’ underneath your router name. If not try some of these suggestions to help you connect to the internet.
- Authentication problem - When connecting to WiFi, if you are seeing the message ‘authentication problem’, this usually means that you are typing in your password wrong. Click on your router name, press ‘forget’ and then try typing in the password again. When typing in the password make sure you tick the box ‘show password’ and double check you have typed it in correctly. The password requirements are case sensitive so be careful when typing in the password.
- Make sure it is the correct password - On your router there maybe various passwords and codes. Make sure that you are typing in the correct password. Look for the following terms on the bottom or the back of your router:
- Security Key
- Wireless Key
- WPA Key
- WPA2 Key
- WEP Key
If you are having trouble finding the password, please contact your network provider and they will be able to guide you.
- Factory data reset - Go to settings > backup & reset > factory data reset > tick the box ‘erase USB storage’ or ‘erase SD card’ if available > reset tablet > erase everything. This will reset the tablet back to factory settings. Try connecting the tablet to WiFi again after the reset.
- Restart your router - Go to your router and turn it off for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds turn it back on and wait another 30 seconds. Forget your network on the tablet and try connecting to your router again.
- Try a different router - Try connecting to another router to see if it is just your router that you cannot connect to. If you can connect to other routers, try contacting your network provider for the problem.
Freeing up storage
If you are finding that you do not have enough storage on your tablet you can try and free up space with these steps.
There are two partitions where memory is stored on these tablets. When downloading apps and saving data onto the tablet, it will automatically save these apps to the first partition of memory. There is extra storage available in the second partition of memory and you can move apps across from the first partition onto the second. To do so you need to go to:
- Settings > apps > downloaded > select an app > Click ‘move to USB storage’ or ‘move to SD card’.
This should move the app onto the second partition and therefore freeing up space on the first partition of memory.
Please be aware that some apps you may not be able to move. This is down to the app developers and is beyond our control.
If your tablet is experiencing software faults with apps, data, internet etc. then please follow these steps to try and resolve it.
- Factory data reset - Go to settings >backup & reset > factory data reset > tick the box ‘erase USB storage’ or ‘erase SD card’ if available > reset tablet > erase everything. This will reset the tablet back to factory settings and hopefully resolve any software faults you have been experiencing.
- Apps - If you are experiencing problems with an app, make sure that you have downloaded the latest updates on these apps and on Google Play services. Go onto Google Play Store and click on my apps to see if there is any updates available. You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the app to try and solve any faults as this will reset the app.
- Reset pin - The IT 10” has a reset pin at the top of the tablet. Put a pin in here until you feel a click. Leave the pin in for around 5 seconds. Try turning on the tablet again and see if the fault has been resolved.
If you think that the battery life is not lasting as long as it should be then follow the steps below to try improve it.
Brightness - The display on the tablet uses up most of the battery. If you are looking to increase the battery life you can decrease the brightness by going to:
- settings > display > brightness > slide the bar down to adjust brightness.
Multitasking - Closing apps off of multitasking helps to increase battery life as there are not as many apps running at the same time. To do this you need to click the icon next to your home button (looks like two rectangles, one behind the other), then swipe off apps that you are not using so it closes them.
Delete unwanted apps / data - Any old apps that you do not use will be taking up memory and therefore the tablet is using more power to carry the memory. Go to:
- settings > apps > downloaded > select the app you want to delete > click uninstall.
Power tablet off rather than standby - The tablet will use more power when it is in standby mode. When you are not using the tablet make sure that you turn it off ass opposed to leaving it in standby mode. To do so, hold the power button down for 2-3 seconds, click ‘power off’, then click ‘ok’. This will shut it down so that it does not use up as much power.
Factory data reset - Go to settings > backup & reset > factory data reset > tick ‘erase USB storage’ or ‘erase SD card’ if available > reset tablet erase everything. This will reset the tablet back to factory settings and hopefully improve your battery life.
